Jeffrey Schmid has been named as president of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, filling a position that has been vacant since January. Schmid was the president of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking Foundation at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. He succeeds Esther George, who retired earlier in the year. Schmid is a native of Nebraska who has also held positions at Mutual of Omaha Bank and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. He will not be a voting member of the Fed’s interest-rate setting panel until 2025.
