Telefonica Deutschland Holding said Wednesday that it expects 2023 revenue and earnings growth to be at the upper range of its guidance, citing strong results for the first half of the year.
The German telecommunications company, also known as O2 Telefonica, said its full-year outlook, which called for growth in the low single-percentage-digit range for both revenue and adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization, has been narrowed to the upper end of that range.
For the second quarter, the company said adjusted Oibda–a key profitability metric–rose to 646 million euros ($714.2 million) from EUR629 million in the year-earlier period, on revenue that grew 4.4% to EUR2.09 billion. Net profit increased to EUR53 million from EUR41 million.
Analysts expected adjusted Oibda to be EUR648 million on revenue of EUR2.08 billion, according to consensus estimates compiled by the company.
The company said mobile service revenue grew 4.3% in the quarter to EUR1.46 billion, with 302,000 new mobile contract customers added in the period driven by its core brand O2.
