Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the fell 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the were Kao Corp. (TYO:), which rose 2.42% or 134.00 points to trade at 5,675.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (TYO:) added 2.29% or 29.00 points to end at 1,294.50 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.14% or 51.50 points to 2,453.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 5.01% or 442.00 points to trade at 8,382.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:) declined 3.84% or 35.50 points to end at 889.90 and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 3.78% or 170.00 points to 4,322.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1968 to 1658 and 264 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.88% to 16.87 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.77% or 0.58 to $74.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.67% or 0.54 to hit $79.94 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 7.55 to trade at $2,010.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.33% to 148.95, while EUR/JPY fell 0.25% to 163.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.21.
